GTM Rural Enterprises Ltd provides a wide range of environmental services to commercial and domestic clients. The company specializes in highway verge and hedge maintenance, public rights of way (PRoW) maintenance, fencing, habitat management, forestry and tree surgery, grassland care, and open space management. GTM also delivers construction services related to rural and environmental projects. Team members work across varied outdoor environments, supporting safe, sustainable land management for communities and businesses.
Role Description
The Skilled Tractor Driver/Rural Operative is a full-time, on-site role based in the London Area, United Kingdom. The role involves operating tractors and related machinery for verge cutting, hedge trimming, grassland maintenance, and habitat management, ensuring safe and efficient work at all times. - Driving and maneuvering vehicles and equipment between sites
- Supporting fencing and basic construction works
- Assisting with forestry and tree surgery operations under supervision
- Carrying out routine equipment checks
- Following health and safety procedures
- Maintaining tidy work areas
- Completing basic documentation such as job sheets and vehicle logs
Collaboration with site supervisors and colleagues to deliver projects on schedule and to required standards is a core part of the role.
Qualifications

- Ability to safely operate agricultural machinery, including tractors, with practical experience in rural or agricultural settings.
- Competence in truck driving; CDL Class A or equivalent large vehicle license is highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of agriculture, land management, or countryside maintenance work.
- Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions, with a strong focus on health and safety.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a small team and independently.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to undertake training and certifications (e.g., machinery operation, first aid, relevant tickets for roadside or forestry work).
