Premier Motors Aftersales Team Recruitment
Premier Motors is growing, and we’re looking for experienced people to strengthen our Aftersales team in Newport.
We’re currently recruiting for two positions: an experienced Vehicle Technician and a qualified MOT Tester.
With Peugeot recently joining our established Ford and MG Motor franchises, our workshop is busier and more varied than ever. You’ll have the opportunity to work across three major manufacturers, alongside used vehicles, other makes and models, and a wide range of light commercial vehicles.
Our commercial workshop also supports major local fleets, including the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, so you can expect genuine variety – from routine servicing and MOTs to diagnostics, complex repairs and the latest hybrid and electric vehicle technology.
Whether you’re an experienced Vehicle Technician looking for your next move or a qualified MOT Tester ready for a new opportunity, we’d like to hear from you.
Salary: £28,000 to £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 4.30 pm, i.e. 37.5 hours per week, 1 hour lunch break (unpaid).
Key Responsibilities:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles.
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
- Completing vehicle health checks and identifying additional work where required.
- Carrying out MOT tests in accordance with current DVSA standards, where appropriately qualified.
- Accurately identifying and recording vehicle defects.
- Completing repair, MOT and job documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Working to manufacturer and company standards while maintaining a consistently high quality of workmanship.
- Working closely with our Service Advisors and Parts Department to keep jobs moving efficiently through the workshop.
- Keeping your technical knowledge current through manufacturer training, technical updates and developments in hybrid and electric vehicle technology.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
- Playing an active role in a professional and supportive workshop team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
