First People Solutions are currently recruiting for a Skilled Welder to join our client's aircraft maintenance operation at Prestwick International Airport.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced TIG Welder to develop their career within the aviation and aerospace sector.
The successful candidate will work within a specialist aircraft maintenance environment, carrying out welding and component repair activities alongside experienced aviation engineers and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out TIG welding on aircraft components using aluminium, stainless steel, Inconel and titanium.
- Maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship.
- Work from engineering drawings, technical information and approved procedures.
- Complete maintenance documentation and associated work packs accurately.
- Assist with the organisation, assessment and evaluation of repairs.
- Support the ordering and tracking of materials and spare parts.
- Assist with component inspection where required.
- Work in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements and health & safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with experienced engineers and contribute to the development of technical skills within the team.

Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, you should have:
- Practical TIG welding experience or strong college-level TIG welding training.
- Experience working with aluminium, Inconel or titanium is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of sheet-metal work / tinsmith practices would be advantageous.
- The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical information.
- Previous aircraft or aerospace experience is desirable but not essential.
- Previous experience with component inspection or work packs would be advantageous.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- A flexible and proactive approach to working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
- Willingness to work shifts, including occasional nights and weekends.
