Role Description
The Skilled Welder role at Ajax Equipment is a full-time, on-site position based in Bolton. The Skilled Welder will fabricate and assemble components for solids handling and processing equipment using appropriate welding processes, following engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. - Preparing materials
- Setting up welding equipment
- Performing MIG/TIG and other welding techniques as required
- Completing structural and pipe welds on carbon and stainless steels
- Inspecting welds
- Performing basic repairs and rework
- Collaborating with engineers and other workshop team members
- Maintaining a safe, organized workspace

The role involves supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and contributing to meeting production deadlines while upholding Ajax’s high quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Strong welding skills, including experience with common industrial processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick) and working with carbon and stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication sketches, and welding symbols to produce accurate components.
- Experience with fabrication and assembly, including cutting, grinding, measuring, and using hand and power tools safely.
- Knowledge of workshop safety practices, PPE use, and adherence to relevant machinery and equipment standards.
- Attention to detail in inspection of weld quality, dimensional accuracy, and completion of rework where needed.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaborating with engineers, supervisors, and colleagues in a manufacturing environment.
- Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in welding or fabrication; recognized welding certifications are an advantage.
- Previous experience in industrial or equipment manufacturing settings, ideally within mechanical or process engineering sectors.
