Make a Difference Every Day
Do you believe that education can change lives?
We are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and committed Skills Builder Tutor to join our education team at HMYOI Werrington. This is a unique opportunity to support young people aged 15-18 to develop the skills, confidence and aspirations they need to succeed in education, employment and life.
Working with learners who may have experienced disrupted education, SEND needs or barriers to learning, you will deliver engaging and creative programmes that develop literacy, numeracy, personal development, citizenship and employability skills.
No two days are the same. One day you could be helping a young person achieve their first qualification, the next you could be supporting them to build confidence, develop life skills and discover a new passion for learning.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver engaging and inclusive learning sessions to small groups of learners.
- Teach English, maths and personal development programmes tailored to individual needs.
- Develop individual learning plans and monitor learner progress.
- Support learners to achieve accredited and non-accredited outcomes.
- Build positive relationships that inspire learners to participate and succeed.
- Promote confidence, resilience, communication and employability skills.
- Work collaboratively with prison staff, learning support colleagues and wider stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance processes.
- Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
