About the Role
Help learners design services that work better for the people who use them. We are looking for a Skills Coach with experience delivering learning in service design to support adults through our Service Designer Level 6 apprenticeship.
Part of our Operations team and reporting to the Apprenticeships Manager, you will work with learners, their line managers and colleagues across curriculum and delivery to support engagement, timely progress and successful completion.
You will help learners apply service design methods in their own organisations, using evidence about user needs to understand services, develop and test ideas, and work with stakeholders to improve the end-to-end experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalised coaching, feedback and motivation to a cohort of adult learners, adapting your support to their needs and workplace context.
- Create individual learning plans that connect on-the-job and off-the-job learning, with clear goals and active involvement from learners’ line managers.
- Hold monthly one-to-one coaching sessions of at least 30 minutes and tripartite progress reviews with learners and their line managers every 6–8 weeks.
- Develop and deliver engaging subject-specific learning resources, group workshops and webinars that help learners put their knowledge into practice.
- Track progress, set SMART goals and prepare learners for end-point assessment through professional discussions, questions and answers, and targeted feedback.
- Identify learners at risk of falling behind or disengaging, agree tailored interventions and keep team leaders informed. Support learners on breaks in learning to return, and those facing delays to complete.
- Maintain accurate learner records on the day of each interaction, monitor off-the-job learning requirements and deliver against agreed quality and performance targets.
- Refer learners for functional skills support where needed, contribute to standardisation meetings and work with curriculum colleagues to keep learning relevant and effective.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
