Job Introduction
We currently have a vacancy for a Skills, Employment, and Education Coordinator here at SCS Railways.
About The Role
The Skills, Education and Employment (SEE) Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the SEE programme across the High Speed Two Limited Main Works Contract.
The role will contribute to the successful achievement of social value commitments and SEE targets across all the project's delivery units, helping to generate sustainable economic opportunities and positive community outcomes within local boroughs and surrounding communities. Working collaboratively with schools, local authorities, community organisations, training providers, delivery teams, and the supply chain, the SEE Coordinator will support the coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of employment, education, outreach, and social value initiatives.
The role will also provide support to apprentices and work experience participants, helping to ensure a positive experience throughout their journey on the project. Reporting to the SEE Manager and forming part of the wider SCS People Team, the SEE Coordinator will play an important role in maintaining accurate programme and apprentice records, supporting performance reporting, and ensuring data is effectively managed through BookIT and other project systems to demonstrate delivery against contractual and social value commitments.
Working Arrangements: This role will be based in the project offices for a minimum of 4 days per week, and will involve travel between the Euston, North Acton/Willesden Junction/West Ruislip sites.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of the Skills, Education and Employment (SEE) strategy and associated social value activities across all delivery units.
- Support the delivery of school engagement activities and programmes for schools, colleges, and young people, promoting careers within the construction and infrastructure industry. This will require some flexibility around travelling across our 7 local London boroughs.
- Attend careers fairs, employability events, and school career days to promote HS2 job opportunities, apprenticeships, and career pathways.
- Support the creation, onboarding, and pastoral care of apprentices through engagement with delivery teams, training providers, partners, and the supply chain.
- Act as a point of contact for apprentices, providing ongoing support and signposting where required to help promote successful programme completion.
- Assist in the coordination and management of the project's internal work placement scheme, including engagement with candidates, providers, and internal teams.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, colleges, training providers, local authorities, community groups, and supply chain partners.
- Maintain accurate apprentice, placement, and SEE records on BookIT and other project systems, ensuring data is up to date, compliant, and aligned with project reporting requirements.
- Collect, maintain, and report SEE data and performance information to the SEE Manager, ensuring accurate record keeping, data validation, and timely reporting against project targets and contractual commitments.
- Support communications and promotional activities to raise awareness of SEE initiatives and achievements internally and externally.
- Promote Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles across all aspects of SEE delivery, ensuring opportunities are accessible and inclusive for local communities.
- Provide administrative and coordination support to the SEE Manager and wider People Team as required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
