Description
Start your career with Chelmsford College and help us create a great experience for our adult learners
Are you organised, friendly and keen to develop a career in administration and customer service?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Skills Hub Administration Assistant Apprentice to join our Apprenticeships and Adult Skills team and become an important part of the new Chelmsford College Skills Hub.
This is a fantastic opportunity to earn while you learn, developing practical skills and experience while working towards a recognised apprenticeship.
You don't need to be an experienced administrator. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in helping people.
What will you be doing?
The Skills Hub will be a busy learning environment, supporting adults undertaking a range of courses and qualifications. As our Administration Assistant Apprentice, you will help ensure that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes and that learners and visitors receive a warm and professional welcome.
Working closely with the Skills Hub Manager and wider team, you will:
- Welcome learners, employers, visitors and partners to the Skills Hub.
- Help provide a friendly and professional reception service.
- Respond to routine telephone, email and face-to-face enquiries.
- Support learners through application and enrolment processes.
- Help maintain accurate learner records and documentation.
- Send joining instructions, course information and reminders to learners.
- Support the recording and monitoring of learner attendance.
- Prepare registers, learner packs, workbooks and programme materials.
- Help set up classrooms and learning spaces ready for courses.
- Make sure tutors have the resources and documentation they need.
- Support room bookings, meetings and Skills Hub events.
- Help maintain stationery and resource stocks.
- Provide general administrative support to the Skills Hub team.
- Learn how to use College systems, processes and procedures.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
