About the Role

Hird is looking for experienced Slinger/Signallers to join our Machinery Moving team. Based at our Hull depot, you'll play a key role in supporting lifting operations across a variety of local and national projects.

This is your chance to join a national machinery removal and installation specialist with more than 40 years of experience, and get involved in exciting, varied projects across the country.

Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities

  • Directing and coordinating the safe movement of loads during lifting operations, working closely with crane/machine operators and site personnel
  • Selecting and attaching the correct lifting accessories (slings, chains, shackles etc.) for each load
  • Carrying out pre-use checks on lifting equipment and accessories, reporting any defects
  • Maintaining clear communication with the lifting team at all times
  • Ensuring all lifts are carried out in accordance with the lift plan and relevant health and safety regulations
  • Supporting the wider Machine Moving team with general duties on site as required
  • Travelling to sites across the UK for both local and national jobs

Requirements

  • Previous experience working as a Slinger Signaller, ideally within plant, machine moving, or construction environments
  • A valid CPCS and/or NPORS Slinger Signaller card
  • Good working knowledge of safe lifting practices
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • A safety-first attitude and close attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to travel and work away when required for national projects
