Small Plant & Tool Hire – Counter Assistant / Tester / Driver
Direct Hire and Sales Ltd – Bingham, Nottingham
Full-time or Part-time | Permanent
Direct Hire and Sales Ltd is a growing tool and plant hire company, and we are looking for a motivated Counter Assistant / Tester /Driver to join our team at our new site at Bingham - currently at NG2 4DS Nottingham depot until Autumn 2026.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining customer service, equipment preparation and testing, and delivery and collection duties. You'll be an important part of our day-to-day operations, ensuring our customers receive safe, well-maintained equipment and excellent service.
We are happy to consider applications from candidates looking for either full-time or part-time hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Serving customers at the hire counter and providing excellent customer service.
- Preparing equipment ready for hire.
- Carrying out pre-hire and post-hire inspections and testing.
- Cleaning, maintaining and checking hire equipment.
- Delivering and collecting hire equipment when required.
- Assisting with the day-to-day running of the depot.
- Ensuring all equipment is maintained to company health and safety standards.

About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, professional and customer-focused.
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
- Well organised with good attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable using computers and Microsoft Office.
- Keen to learn and develop within the hire industry.
Essential Requirements
- Clean Full UK driving licence.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Mechanical aptitude or an interest in tools and equipment.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Previous customer service or trade counter experience.
- Experience within the tool hire, plant hire or construction industry.
- Experience using hire management software.

Hours
Full-time
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00am – 4:30pm
- 42.5 hours per week
Part-time
- Flexible hours available (to be agreed)
- Monday to Friday
- Ideal for candidates looking for reduced hours
