Fire Alarm Engineer

Small Works / Commissioning Engineer

Location: Swindon / Wiltshire / M4 Corridor

Salary: £35,000 – £48,000 DOE

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (40 hours per week)

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Small Works / Commissioning Engineer to join a well-established fire safety business operating across commercial and public-sector environments.

The successful engineer will be responsible for delivering small works, installation, modifications, upgrades and commissioning of fire alarm systems across a varied client base. This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer who enjoys project-based work and taking responsibility for works from initial installation through to completion and handover.

Projects will include environments such as care homes, data centres, education, healthcare, hospitality, retail and social housing.

Systems Experience

Experience working with the following systems is highly desirable:

  • Gent
  • Advanced
  • Kentec
  • C-TEC

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out small works and remedial installations on fire alarm systems
  • Installing and modifying fire alarm equipment and associated devices
  • Commissioning and testing newly installed and modified systems
  • Fault finding and resolving technical issues
  • Completing system upgrades and alterations
  • Carrying out final testing and customer handovers
  • Completing accurate installation and commissioning documentation
  • Liaising with customers, site teams and project managers
  • Ensuring all works are completed safely, professionally and in accordance with relevant standards
  • Travelling to customer sites across the Swindon, Wiltshire and M4 corridor

Key Details

  • 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday
  • Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours
  • Primarily covering Swindon, Wiltshire and the M4 corridor, with occasional travel further afield
  • 30 minutes unpaid travel each way
  • Company vehicle provided for business use
  • Full training and technical support provided
