Join us as the Small Works Manager at Bettys and Taylors Group - Our family business is home to three iconic Yorkshire brands - Yorkshire Tea, Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate.
We are seeking a Small Works Manager to join an established Group Property Services Team, based at Bettys & Taylors Plumpton Park site in Starbeck, Harrogate. As the Small Works Manager, you will be responsible for delivering building maintenance and small works projects ranging from £1,000 - £50,000 across Bettys and Taylors operational portfolio. The role requires a hands-on approach with regular site visits.
The role is responsible for overseeing projects from inception to completion, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining effective stakeholder and contractor relationships. Duties will include developing scope of works, obtaining quotes, planning and programming works, managing and supervising contractors.
Working Pattern

About You
- Experience in a Small Works, Building Maintenance, Facilities Management or Property Services role, with responsibility for delivering maintenance and small-scale projects from inception to completion.
- Demonstrable experience of managing multiple maintenance activities and projects concurrently, ensuring delivery to agreed timescales, budgets and quality standards.
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to respond effectively to changing operational requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, contractors and suppliers.
- Good understanding of building fabric maintenance and repair works.
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, including CDM Regulations, Building Regulations, contractor management, RAMS review and permit-to-work processes.
- Experience of procuring, managing and monitoring contractors, including performance, compliance and quality management.
- Proactive, hands-on and solutions-focused approach, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of workmanship.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant project, maintenance or facilities management systems.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours working to support maintenance and project delivery.
- A full UK driving licence is essential, together with the ability to commute to and work from the Harrogate area and travel regularly across the BTG property portfolio.
