The Role

As a Small Works Manager, you’ll be a member of the Estates Delivery discipline within UK Defence Operations leading and managing small maintenance, reactive and minor works in support of the delivery of FM and estate management projects ensuring a high level of service delivery.

Day-to-day, you’ll organise small maintenance and minor works projects and support the delivery of larger projects in line with QinetiQ / MoD processes and legislation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Integrating the project team within the business and ensuring that a Health and Safety culture is embedded within the team
  • Working with more senior Project Management resources to develop competence within estates delivery
  • Defining and maintaining the overall aims and objectives of the works together with their relative priorities, and the overall scope of the Project
  • Defining and agreeing an appropriate budget, delivering the Project within this budget and managing and reporting progress against an agreed cost plan
  • Managing the activities of the external advisors, including the management of their appointments, via appointed Procurement Team Managers within QinetiQ
  • Providing technical support and knowledge to maintenance activities

Essential experience of the Small Works Manager:

  • Developed interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with senior Project Managers on a day-to-day basis and as well as developed stakeholder management skills
  • Computer literate with a good command of data manipulation, analysis and presentation using, mainly, MS Office suite
  • Holds an awareness of certain aspects of sustainability and energy aspects of project delivery
  • Understanding of certain aspects of Building Regulations
  • Understanding of risk management processes and techniques
  • Understanding of the Construction, Design Management (CDM) Regulations

Essential qualifications for the Small Works Manager:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • HNC/HND in Building or Construction
  • Full driving licence

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Shoeburyness site.

Shoeburyness

QinetiQ Shoeburyness is a significant test and evaluation facility specialising in defence and security technologies. The site is focused on Environmental Testing including the evaluation of various ordnance, explosives and related systems. Implementing measures to ensure that testing activities comply with environmental regulations and minimise ecological impact.
