Small Works Manager

Based – Bristol
Hours - 40 (Monday to Friday)

What this job involves:

As a Small Works Manager, the purpose of the role is to operate within the department supporting the Project Management team in maintaining and developing the capability and coordinating the daily operations of associated works.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Project Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver small-scale construction, maintenance, and refurbishment projects across Rolls-Royce facilities
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocation to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery
  • Oversee multiple concurrent projects ranging from minor repairs to facility improvements
  • Prepare and manage project documentation including method statements, risk assessments, and completion reports

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as primary point of contact for Rolls-Royce facilities teams for small works requests
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with client stakeholders at all levels
  • Conduct site assessments and provide accurate cost estimates and feasibility studies
  • Communicate project progress, challenges, and outcomes effectively to all parties

Contractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Source, appoint, and manage approved contractors and suppliers
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, building codes, and client standards
  • Monitor contractor performance and quality of workmanship
  • Negotiate competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all works comply with CDM regulations, health and safety legislation, and site-specific requirements
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits
  • Maintain accurate records of permits, certifications, and compliance documentation
  • Implement and enforce safe working practices across all project activities

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience managing small works, maintenance projects, or minor construction activities
  • Proven track record of delivering multiple concurrent projects in occupied commercial or industrial environments
  • Experience working within FM or construction environments, ideally supporting blue-chip clients

Qualifications:

  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent health and safety certification
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Full UK driving license

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of building systems, construction methods, and maintenance practices
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Budget management and financial reporting capabilities

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail
  • Proactive problem-solver with a can-do attitude
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload
  • Client-focused with a professional demeanor
