Smart Comms Lead Developer

Grade - C16

Contract – Permanent

Location: Staines

Hybrid working: 1 day per week in the office

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

Benefits: Role-specific bonus of 10% MBS

Closing Date: 27th August 2026

The Smart Comms Lead Developer has domain expertise within this technical discipline, and would take technical ownership and drive the platform forward to maximize the full potential of what it can offer, and therefore, driving efficiencies and savings for Bupa market units, as well as providing an enhanced experience for Bupa customers.

How you’ll help us make health happen

  • Help to design and deliver functional specifications & detailed designs
  • Inspire team members with own work ethic and technical expertise.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and positive approach to any kind of requests & challenges.
  • Responsible & accountable for delivery of accepted work within the agreed deliverable timescales.
  • Adherence to and responsible for the use of appropriate delivery methods and techniques to drive efficiency and speed of delivery
  • Proactively identify and manage technical risks and issues.
  • Strive to continually improve standards & quality of deliverables
  • Responsible for ensuring that all development is as per architectural standards and constraints, with reviews by self or peers.
  • Stay abreast with up to date tools and technologies.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Solid technical experience in Thunderhead/SmartComms platform
  • Development experience/exposure in (but not limited to).net / scripting, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server, cloud-based platforms (Azure, but not essential)
  • Working with and implementing on cloud solutions.
  • Installation and integration of solutions.
  • Creating technical documentation for audit and compliancy purposes
  • Presenting ideas and opportunities clearly and simply, orally or in writing.
  • Working with 3rd party development resource
