Role Description
The Smart Meter Engineer role at SocialCru Ltd is a field-based position based in the UK. In this role, the engineer installs, commissions, and maintains smart gas and electric meters in residential properties, ensuring all work meets industry standards and regulatory requirements. The engineer also collaborates with the wider operations team to meet contract targets, follow health and safety procedures, and support continuous improvement of metering services. This position is offered as a full-time role.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in smart meter installation, commissioning, and maintenance within gas and/or electricity environments.
- Strong technical skills in fault finding, diagnostic testing, and safe use of metering tools and equipment.
- Thorough understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and compliance requirements in utility metering.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical work in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to work independently on-site, manage schedules efficiently, and complete accurate digital job documentation.
- Relevant metering or engineering qualifications (Smart Metering, electrical or gas certifications) and a valid driver’s license.
- Experience working on utility or energy sector contracts, with a track record of high-quality, professional service delivery.
- Commitment to health and safety, attention to detail, and readiness to adapt to new technologies and working practices.
