SmartCOMM Developer - £500/day via Umbrella (Inside IR35) - 3 Month Contract - Remote - SCC Flex Contract
We are seeking an experienced SmartCOMM Developer / Engineer to design, develop, maintain and support customer communications delivered through the Smart Communications (Thunderhead) platform. This is an excellent opportunity for a SmartCOMM Developer / Engineer to work across the full lifecycle of customer correspondence solutions, from template development and integrations through to releases, production support and continuous improvement.
Your Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain SmartCOMM templates, document configurations and reusable content components.
- Deliver customer letters, policy documents, statements, regulatory communications and email communications.
- Translate business, marketing and regulatory requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Work with XML payloads, data models and integrations to troubleshoot data and document-generation issues.
- Support SmartCOMM integrations with APIs, middleware and core business systems.
- Support hybrid cloud and on-premise SmartCOMM environments, including deployments and environment promotion.
- Plan and support releases, configuration changes and document deployments.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes and implement fixes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and support the full software development lifecycle.
- Ensure solutions comply with security, data protection and regulatory requirements.

As a Successful SmartCOMM Developer / Engineer, You Will Have
- 3+ years' commercial experience developing and supporting Smart Communications / SmartCOMM / Thunderhead solutions.
- Strong experience with SmartCOMM Template Designer, Template Editor, Data Modeler and Content Management.
- Experience building and maintaining complex, data-driven customer communication templates.
- Strong XML and XSLT skills, including payload analysis and troubleshooting.
- Experience with APIs, integrations and middleware-connected platforms.
- Understanding of SmartCOMM deployment, configuration and release management across development, UAT and production environments.
- Experience diagnosing and resolving production issues across templates, integrations and processing components.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.

Desirable
- Java development and SmartCOMM customisation experience.
- Experience supporting hybrid SmartCOMM deployments combining cloud services with on-premise processing appliances.
- Insurance, Financial Services or Customer Communications Management (CCM) experience.
- Knowledge of high-availability, failover and platform upgrade processes.
- Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, CI/CD tooling and release governance.
- Experience mentoring colleagues and supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives.
