We are currently recruiting for an experienced SmartRecruiters Functional Lead to join a high-profile public sector programme on a 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on SmartRecruiters specialist to take functional ownership of a recruitment platform, working closely with Resourcing SMEs, Digital teams, business stakeholders and third-party suppliers.
The successful candidate will combine strong SmartRecruiters configuration expertise with recruitment process knowledge, stakeholder management and business process improvement skills.
The Role
As the SmartRecruiters Functional Lead, you will act as the subject matter expert for the platform, translating business requirements into effective functional solutions and ensuring the platform delivers an efficient, compliant and user-friendly recruitment service. You will be responsible for configuring and optimising SmartRecruiters, supporting integrations with SAP Employee Central, and helping to improve end-to-end recruitment processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the functional lead and SME for SmartRecruiters.
- Provide expert guidance on SmartRecruiters functionality and best practice.
- Configure and maintain SmartRecruiters recruitment workflows and processes.
- Lead workshops with HR, Resourcing and senior business stakeholders.
- Gather, analyse and translate business requirements into functional solutions.
- Design and implement improved end-to-end recruitment processes.
- Identify opportunities for automation, optimisation and continuous improvement.
- Configure functionality including requisitions, job advertising, candidate management, workflows, approvals, interview scheduling and offer management.
- Develop recruitment reporting, dashboards and KPIs.
- Support data quality, governance and compliance across the platform.
- Support SmartRecruiters integration with SAP Employee Central and associated systems.
- Work with MeVitae to support blind sifting and the reduction of potential recruitment bias.
- Produce functional specifications, process maps and supporting documentation.
- Develop training materials and deliver user workshops.
- Support adoption, change management and continuous improvement.
- Manage relationships with third-party suppliers and service providers.
- Ensure recruitment processes meet relevant legislative, GDPR, security and audit requirements.

Essential Experience
- Significant hands-on experience with SmartRecruiters in a Functional Lead, Functional Consultant, Product Owner or Business Systems capacity.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end recruitment and Talent Acquisition processes.
- Experience configuring SmartRecruiters workflows and business processes.
- Proven experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Experience facilitating workshops with senior stakeholders.
- Strong business process improvement and analytical skills.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers.
- Understanding of recruitment reporting, KPIs and data management.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.

Desirable Experience
- SmartRecruiters implementation or major transformation experience.
- Experience integrating SmartRecruiters with SAP Employee Central / SAP SuccessFactors.
- Experience with HR, ERP or identity-management integrations.
- Knowledge of Civil Service recruitment processes.
- Agile delivery experience.
- Experience with MeVitae or similar blind-sifting/redaction solutions.
- Familiarity with SmartRecruiters embedded AI functionality.
- SmartRecruiters certification or equivalent practical experience.
