The Role

Referment is working with an established independent insurance broker that advises small and medium-sized businesses on commercial risk. It is seeking an SME Account Executive to develop and manage a client portfolio, handling business from initial enquiry through placement, renewal and ongoing advice.

You will work directly with prospects and clients to understand their operations and insurance needs, then present risks to insurers, evaluate market responses and recommend suitable cover. The remit combines portfolio growth with careful broking, documentation and account management.

  • Develop an account of SME clients against agreed growth and performance objectives.
  • Gather and assess information for new business, renewals and mid-term changes.
  • Prepare clear presentations and submissions for insurers and suppliers.
  • Oversee the broking of risks, negotiating terms, conditions, premiums and income.
  • Analyse market responses and recommend suitable insurers and products.
  • Present quotations and renewal terms, explaining the scope and limitations of cover.
  • Conduct client reviews and provide ongoing advice on existing policies and relevant additional products.
  • Arrange cover accurately and process business in line with FCA requirements and internal procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records and manage premium and fee collection issues appropriately.
  • Build effective relationships with clients, prospects, insurers, loss adjusters and service providers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
