Role Description

This is a contract, on-site role for SME Support Consultants based in Greater London, focused on supporting inclusive growth for small and medium-sized enterprises. The role involves assessing client business performance, identifying improvement opportunities, and delivering tailored advisory support on turnaround, growth, and transformation initiatives. Day-to-day tasks include engaging directly with SME clients, diagnosing operational and financial issues, developing practical improvement plans, and providing hands-on support to implement recommended changes. Communications and stakeholder management skills are highly valued. Consultants will also coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, prepare clear reports and presentations, and track progress against agreed objectives to ensure measurable improvements in business performance and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret financial, operational, and market data to generate actionable insights.
  • Customer support and customer satisfaction skills to effectively engage SME clients, understand their needs, and build long-term, trust-based relationships.
  • Technical support capabilities to help clients implement practical solutions, tools, and processes that improve efficiency and performance.
  • Consulting skills, including structured problem-solving, stakeholder management, and clear communication of complex ideas in accessible language.
  • Experience working with SMEs or in advisory, management consulting, or business development roles is highly beneficial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce concise reports and deliver persuasive presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on-site with clients, manage multiple engagements, and adapt to fast-changing business environments.
  • A degree or equivalent experience in business, economics, finance, management, or a related field is advantageous.
