Role Overview

The SMT Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, optimising, and continuously improving Surface Mount Technology (SMT) manufacturing processes. They will also play a key role in supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), improving manufacturing yields, and introducing robust process controls across the SMT production line.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimise, and maintain SMT manufacturing processes to improve quality, throughput, and reliability.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), including process development, validation, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on quality, efficiency, cost, and throughput.
  • Support breakout, cleaning, conformal coating, and other downstream manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Production, and Design Engineering teams to ensure robust manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Experience within SMT Process Engineering or significant hands-on experience as an SMT Technician or SMT Operator.
  • Strong knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes and electronic assembly.
  • Knowledge of process control techniques including PFMEA, PPAP, and process capability studies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Hands-on approach and ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
