The Role
We are looking for an experienced SMT Technician to join a busy manufacturing team. The successful candidate will operate the SMT production line independently, ensuring work orders are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
You will be involved in all stages of the SMT process, from solder paste printing and component placement through to inspection and rework. The role will also involve maintaining component stock, identifying quality issues and ensuring a clean and compliant ESD-protected working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the entire SMT production line independently, ensuring work orders are completed to the required standard.
- Set up and operate SMT production equipment, including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines and reflow ovens.
- Review AOI results, classify defects and carry out any necessary rework.
- Inspect completed assemblies and identify quality issues before progressing products to the next stage.
- Maintain a clean, organised and compliant ESD-protected area.
- Manage electronic component inventory, including goods-in, storage, handling and reconditioning where required.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with production requirements and quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to meet production deadlines.
- Identify and report any production or equipment issues.

Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience operating SMT production equipment.
- Experience working across all stages of an SMT line, including solder paste printing, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow ovens and AOI.
- Ability to process work orders from start to finish with minimal supervision.
- Experience handling and maintaining electronic component stock.
- Knowledge of ESD-protected working environments.
- Experience reviewing and classifying AOI results.
- Competent soldering and electronic rework skills.
- Experience handling Moisture Sensitive Devices (MSDs) and ESD-sensitive components.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The Package
- Salary of £30,000–£37,000 per annum.
- Annual and monthly bonus.
