Snowflake Data Engineer/Developer

We are looking for an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer/Developer to design, develop and optimise scalable, high-performance data solutions. You will bring extensive Data Engineering experience, including at least hands-on Snowflake expertise, with a strong technical background in data warehousing, ETL/ELT and cloud-based data integration. Working closely with business stakeholders, architects and analytics teams, you will build robust data platforms that support business intelligence, reporting and data-driven decision-making.
Location: Edinburgh or London
Basis: Initially a fixed term contract for 6 months
Hybrid: 2/3 days On client site
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and optimise scalable Snowflake data warehouse solutions.
- Build, maintain and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation and processing.
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures and reusable data components.
- Monitor and improve the performance, reliability and scalability of data solutions.
- Integrate Snowflake with AWS or Azure services and third-party applications.
- Implement and maintain data quality, security and governance standards.
- Develop effective data models to support analytics and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, solution architects and analytics teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Support business intelligence and reporting platforms, including Power BI and Tableau.
- Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps and Agile delivery practices.

What We’re Looking For
- Extensive Data Engineering experience.
- Considerable hands-on experience designing and developing solutions using Snowflake.
- Strong SQL skills, including complex querying, stored procedures and performance optimisation.
- Strong Python programming experience for data engineering and automation.
- In-depth knowledge of ETL/ELT development and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience working with AWS services such as Glue, S3 and Lambda, or equivalent Microsoft Azure services.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Strong understanding of data modelling, performance tuning and query optimisation.
- Experience integrating cloud data platforms with third-party systems and applications.
- Knowledge of data quality, security and governance principles.
- Experience supporting Power BI, Tableau or similar business intelligence platforms.
- Good understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
