Role Overview

This role focuses on procurement and supply chain management within the public sector, ensuring efficient and effective sourcing and supplier management. Based in Sheffield, you will play a key part in supporting the organisation's operations by delivering value through strategic procurement.

Client Details

This organisation is a government-owned economic development institution that works to improve access to finance for smaller businesses across the UK, supporting growth, innovation, regional development, and investment through a network of delivery partners rather than lending directly in most cases. As a publicly owned body, it operates within the wider public sector landscape, aligning its activities with government policy objectives, managing public funds responsibly, and helping to address market gaps where private finance may be limited. Its role is to stimulate economic growth, increase the availability and diversity of funding options for businesses, and support broader public policy goals such as productivity, levelling up, sustainability, and job creation.

Description

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Manage supplier relationships, ensuring compliance and high-quality service delivery.
  • Lead tender processes and negotiate contracts to secure the best terms for the organisation.
  • Monitor and analyse procurement data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to public sector procurement regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and provide procurement solutions.
  • Support the development and implementation of supply chain processes and systems.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on procurement best practices to the wider team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
