SOC Analyst

Location: UK / Hybrid / Remote

Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 depending on experience

We are working with a number of organisations looking to strengthen their Security Operations teams and are interested in speaking with SOC Analysts at varying levels of experience. You will be responsible for monitoring, investigating and responding to security events and incidents, helping to protect business systems, networks and data from cyber threats.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor and investigate security alerts across SIEM and security monitoring platforms
  • Triage incidents and determine severity, impact and appropriate response
  • Investigate suspicious activity across endpoints, networks and cloud environments
  • Escalate confirmed incidents and support containment and remediation
  • Analyse logs and security events to identify indicators of compromise
  • Support threat hunting and vulnerability management activities
  • Maintain incident records, documentation and investigation reports
  • Work with wider Security, Infrastructure and IT teams to improve security controls
  • Help tune detection rules and reduce false positives
  • Support continuous improvement of SOC processes and procedures

Experience we are looking for

  • Previous experience within a SOC, Cyber Security Analyst or Security Operations role
  • Good understanding of security monitoring and incident response
  • Experience with SIEM technologies such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar or similar
  • Understanding of EDR/XDR technologies such as Microsoft Defender, CrowdStrike or SentinelOne
  • Good networking knowledge including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls and common protocols
  • Understanding of Windows and Linux environments
  • Familiarity with common cyber threats, attack techniques and vulnerabilities
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST or Cyber Kill Chain
  • Ability to investigate incidents and communicate findings clearly
