SOC Architect

Location: Frimley & Client Sites (Flexible hybrid: currently 1–2 days every 2 weeks, increasing up to a couple of weeks per month as project ramps up)

Type: Contract (6–9 months) · Hours: 40 hours/week
Day Rate: £710 per day

Security Clearance: UK Security Check (SC)

Role Overview

We are seeking a senior, talented SOC Architect with exceptional technical and client-facing skills to architect Security Operations Centre (SOC) solutions for customers. You will shape comprehensive solutions spanning Services, People, Policy and Process, Technology, and Physical Infrastructure layers to meet complex client and defense requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder & Requirements Engagement: Engage with client stakeholders to define and understand security and accreditation requirements.
  • Solution Architecture: Conceptualize and architect end-to-end SOC solutions (covering services, people, process, technology, and physical layers), create CONOPS, and contribute to high-level (HLD), low-level (LLD), and deployment-level designs.
  • Security Tool Design: Support the design and configuration of a broad range of security tools.
  • Maturity & Advisory Assessments: Assess existing deployments and client capabilities to drive continuous improvements and elevate overall security maturity.

Core Duties & Requirements

Experience & Background

  • Proven senior-level experience in SOC Architecture (preferably within Defence or working closely with UK Government clients).
  • Deep understanding of industry best practices in Security Operations across Services, People, Policy, Process, Technology, and Physical layers.
  • Experience working across a variety of delivery methodologies (e.g., agile, lean, iterative/incremental, waterfall) with senior stakeholders and government systems.

Technical & Architectural Competencies

  • SOC Technologies: Design, build, and deployment experience using at least two core technologies: SIEM, SOAR, EDR, Vulnerability Management, or Threat Intelligence.
  • Architectural Frameworks: Familiarity with architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachmann) and system modeling.
  • Environments: Proficiency in both On-Premises and Cloud security architectures, designing scalable, resilient systems.
  • Cyber Fundamentals: Strong grasp of common threats, mitigation techniques, risk assessment, vulnerability management, and enterprise ICT services.
