Job Title: Social & Community Apprentice

Department: Marketing

Location: London

Working Pattern: Hybrid, includes 3 days each week in the office

Contract Type: Full time, permanent

Salary: Up to £24,351.60 per annum

Role overview

This role plays a key part in supporting the continued growth, effectiveness, and impact of our social media presence, with a strong focus on improving audience sentiment. The successful candidate will actively engage with and support our online community, contribute to our “top of mind” social strategy, and help strengthen brand visibility and perception across key platforms.

By fostering meaningful interactions, this role will help build a more connected, engaged, and loyal community around our brand.

As part of this position, the successful candidate will be enrolled in a Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketing Apprenticeship with the Apprenticeship College London, which will account for 20% of their working hours. This provides an opportunity to learn in practice while being fully supported by our marketing team, enabling the development of skills alongside formal training.


Key Responsibilities

Community Management & Engagement

  • Support the Social Media Manager in managing and engaging with online communities across social media platforms.
  • Respond to comments, direct messages, mentions, tags, and other interactions in a timely, professional, and on-brand manner.
  • Assist with monitoring and responding to Google and Glassdoor reviews to help maintain a positive brand presence.
  • Contribute to relevant online discussions and conversations to support audience engagement and community growth.

Social Presence & Brand Visibility

  • Support the delivery of a "top of mind" social media approach through consistent engagement and community interaction.
  • Assist in ensuring the brand remains visible, relevant, and active within key audience, industry, and sector conversations.
  • Support real-time social engagement during campaigns, events, launches, and other key business initiatives.
  • Assist the Social Media Manager with the creation and boosting of social media posts where required.

Social Listening & Brand Sentiment

  • Monitor social channels for brand mentions, audience conversations, emerging trends, and sentiment.
  • Identify recurring themes, opportunities, insights, and potential reputational risks.
  • Escalate relevant insights, trends, and issues to the Social Media Manager to support content planning and messaging decisions.

Employee Advocacy Support

  • Support the delivery and continued growth of the Employee Advocacy programme.
  • Help identify and promote relevant content and campaigns to employees to encourage participation, engagement, and amplification.
  • Assist with the creation of employee-led content, including testimonials, podcasts, and social media posts.
  • Provide guidance and support to encourage employee involvement in social media activity.

Operational Support

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Social Media Manager across social media activity, content delivery, campaigns, reporting, and other ad hoc projects as required.

Social and Digital Marketing Apprenticeship

  • Alongside this role you will be enrolled into a Level 3 Multi-Channel Marketing Apprenticeship with the Apprenticeship College London to continue developing your digital marketing knowledge. This is a 15 month + 4-month end point assessment course that includes 10 workshops, coaching sessions, and continuous support. All funded by Tes’ Levy fund.

What will you need to succeed?

Experience

This is an apprentice role, so no degree is necessary, however a strong interest in social media and marketing is preferred.

Knowledge

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of major social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

Skills

  • Strong written skills and understanding of tone of voice are important as there will be a large written aspect to the role.
  • Basic understanding of social media metrics for reporting purposes.
  • Familiarity with basic video editing software and Canva is desirable.

Qualifications

This is an apprenticeship role, so a degree is not required prior to starting. A strong interest in social media and marketing is preferred, and a degree in a related field would be an advantage.

Completion of GCSE-level education is required.
