Job Description: Social Art Director
We’re looking for a highly creative, culturally plugged-in Social Art Director to join our Studio team and create distinctive, platform-native content.
This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who can take ownership of a social brief from initial idea through to capture, edit, delivery and performance learning.
You’ll be responsible for turning social and business objectives into strong creative ideas, then making those ideas happen. You’ll develop concepts, plan and lead content capture, direct talent and contributors, shoot where appropriate, oversee or undertake the edit, and ensure the final work is right for the platform and objective. We’re looking for someone with a strong creative eye, excellent social fluency and a genuine point of view. Someone who is as comfortable developing an idea as they are directing talent, shooting content and editing it themselves.
You’ll be expected to challenge briefs, bring new thinking to the team and constantly look for more interesting, culturally relevant and entertaining ways for our brands to show up on social.
We'd love for you to have skills that look like:
- Strong social-first portfolio showing creative ideas and end-to-end content ownership.
- Excellent knowledge of Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, with an understanding of how content should differ by platform.
- Strong video shooting and editing skills, including mobile/lightweight production.
- Able to take a brief from concept → shoot → edit → delivery independently.
- Confident directing creators, talent and other creative contributors.
- Understands what makes social content engaging: hooks, pacing, sound, captions and storytelling.
- Comfortable presenting ideas and explaining the creative rationale.
- Uses performance data and metrics to improve content and develop new ideas.
- Able to work quickly, reactively and independently, while managing multiple projects.
- Strong communicator who can collaborate with senior creative/social teams.
- Passionate about beauty, culture, creativity and the internet, with curiosity about AI and emerging technology.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, taking initiative and challenging briefs.
- Can take strategic/creative direction from a Senior Art Director while owning execution and results.
- Able to balance creative ambition with commercial goals, deadlines and resources.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Overall: We'd love someone who is both creative and highly practical, someone who can come up with distinctive social ideas and personally make them happen, while using data to improve performance. You’ll work closely with the Senior Art Director, who will provide creative direction and ensure work is aligned with the wider brand and visual identity, and with the Head of Social Storytelling & Growth, who will provide direction on social strategy, performance and data.
You’ll own your briefs end-to-end, while operating within the wider creative and social frameworks set by these senior leads.
In short, this role is about owning social content from idea to performance, combining creative development, hands-on production, editing and data-driven improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the creative process: Take briefs from concept through to delivery, turning audience insights, product priorities and cultural moments into strong social ideas.
- Develop platform-native concepts: Create hooks, formats, storylines and recurring series tailored to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and other channels.
- Challenge and improve briefs: Bring your own creative perspective while working within the Senior Art Director’s vision and brand guidelines.
- Lead production: Plan shoots, create shot lists/scripts/storyboards, organise resources and direct talent and contributors.
- Be hands-on: Confidently shoot social content yourself, particularly using mobile/lightweight setups, while knowing when to bring in specialist creators or production support.
- Own the edit: Create engaging short-form video and stills, with strong knowledge of pacing, hooks, sound, captions, transitions and visual storytelling.
- Deliver across channels: Adapt content appropriately for organic, paid, CRM, website and different social placements.
- Use data to improve creativity: Analyse performance beyond basic metrics, identify what makes content work, form hypotheses and use testing/iteration to improve future work.
- Stay culturally relevant: Keep up with creators, trends, memes, communities and emerging formats, identifying opportunities for reactive and culturally relevant content.
- Think beyond trends: Understand which trends genuinely fit the brand and platform rather than following trends for their own sake.
- Explore AI and new technology: Experiment with AI and emerging tools to improve ideation, production, editing and creative output, while maintaining authenticity and brand quality.
- Share learning: Bring creative, cultural, performance and technology insights back to the wider Social and Creative teams.
