At Respect Chaffey House in Merbein, we believe every resident deserves to feel respected, valued and connected. We are seeking a passionate and creative Social Care Coordinator to lead our social care program and create meaningful experiences that enrich the lives of our residents.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with older people and enjoys bringing people together through engaging activities, community connections and person-centred care.
About The Role
As the Social Care Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day delivery of our social care program, working closely with the General Manager and the broader team to ensure activities and programs are responsive to the interests, abilities and individual needs of our residents.
You will play an important leadership role in developing a vibrant, inclusive and engaging social environment where residents can participate, build relationships and maintain connections with their local community.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and continually review engaging social, recreational and therapeutic activities that are resident-focused.
- Lead and support Social Care Assistants and volunteers.
- Develop strong relationships with local community groups, schools, sporting organisations and other community partners.
- Facilitate resident meetings and encourage residents to have an active voice in planning activities and programs.
- Develop and maintain a vibrant volunteer program that encourages community engagement and resident participation.
- Maintain appropriate records, program registers, attendance records and social care documentation.
- Manage social care resources, inventory and expenditure within the approved budget.
- Contribute to facility management meetings and strategic social care planning.
- Support compliance with organisational policies, legislation and relevant standards.
- Participate in professional development, mandatory training and quality improvement activities.
- Promote a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for residents, families, visitors, volunteers and colleagues.

About You
You are an enthusiastic and compassionate professional who understands the importance of meaningful engagement and quality of life for older people.
You Will Bring
- Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle or a similar qualification.
- Experience supervising and delivering a social care program.
- A genuine, empathetic and resident-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong relationship-building and organisational skills.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving.
- Proficient computer and information management skills.
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current National Police Certificate, or the ability to obtain one.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.

Desirable experience
It Would Be Advantageous If You Have
- Experience in residential aged care.
- Experience working with people living with dementia.
- Experience providing recreational services or complementary therapies.
- Established connections with community groups and support agencies.
