Freelance Social-First Content Creator & Producer

We’re looking for a freelance Social-First Content Creator & Producer to take genuine ownership of content production across our growing client portfolio.

This isn’t a role for someone who only turns up to film.

We need someone who can take a client brief or strategy and lead the entire creative process—from researching and developing ideas to planning the shoot, directing clients, capturing the content and overseeing the final delivery.

You’ll understand what makes content work across TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn, and be able to turn strategic objectives into strong, platform-native ideas that are realistic to produce.

Initially, this will be a freelance role with regular project work. There is potential for it to develop into a part-time or full-time position as the agency grows.

What You’ll Own

  • Researching brands, audiences, competitors and relevant social trends
  • Developing original, platform-specific content concepts
  • Turning strategies and campaign briefs into practical content plans
  • Creating scripts, hooks, shot lists and detailed production plans
  • Planning and coordinating content shoot days from start to finish
  • Organising locations, talent, props, equipment and shoot schedules
  • Capturing high-quality, social-first content, primarily using an iPhone
  • Directing founders, clients, creators and talent confidently on camera
  • Adapting ideas during shoots and spotting additional content opportunities
  • Editing short-form videos where required
  • Briefing editors and giving clear, constructive feedback
  • Managing content through internal review, client feedback and final delivery
  • Ensuring projects remain organised, on brief and on schedule
  • Contributing ideas across multiple client accounts and sectors

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You’ll be responsible for making sure the content doesn’t just get filmed, it gets properly thought through, created and delivered.

We’re Looking for Someone Who

  • Has strong experience creating short-form, social-first video content
  • Understands what performs across TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Can generate strong ideas without needing to be handed a finished concept
  • Understands hooks, pacing, storytelling, retention and platform-native editing
  • Can confidently own a project from the initial idea through to delivery
  • Is comfortable directing people who may not be confident on camera
  • Can balance creativity with organisation and commercial objectives
  • Is proactive, resourceful and able to solve problems independently
  • Is highly organised and reliable when managing deadlines and multiple projects
  • Communicates confidently and professionally with clients
  • Is happy to be hands-on across both creative and production tasks
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and can travel to client locations

We need someone who takes initiative, brings ideas to the table and can be trusted to move projects forward - not someone who waits for every detail to be briefed.

Working Arrangement

  • Freelance contract with regular project work
  • Remote-based planning and project management
  • Travel to content shoots at client locations across the UK
  • Shoots will often take place around London, Berkshire and surrounding areas, with occasional travel further afield
  • Potential to develop into a part-time or full-time role as the agency expands

Bonus Points

  • Experience working within a social media or creative agency
  • Confident editing skills using CapCut, Premiere Pro or similar
  • Experience producing founder-led, UGC-style or direct-to-camera content
  • Experience developing content for traditionally corporate or “uncool” sectors
  • A strong understanding of social strategy - not only filming and editing
  • Experience managing client approvals and briefing other creatives
  • Confidence capturing supporting photography and behind-the-scenes content

About Fern

Fern is a small but ambitious social and content agency specialising in making traditionally “uncool” brands interesting on social.

We believe the strongest content comes from combining strategy, creativity and excellent execution. We don’t create content simply to fill calendars - we develop ideas with a clear purpose and produce them specifically for the platforms where they’ll appear.

If you love social media, naturally spot content opportunities and want to own the creative process rather than only one part of it, we’d love to hear from you.

How to Apply

Please send your CV, portfolio and freelance rates to analytics@ferntheagency.co.uk

Please include examples of:

  • Content you have personally ideated, planned, filmed and/or edited
  • Social media accounts or campaigns you’ve worked on

  • Scripts, concepts, shot lists or production plans you’ve developed
