Social Media Manager

Manchester | Hybrid | c.£35k

Social isn't something you just do. You live it.

You know what's happening on TikTok before it lands in the team WhatsApp. You understand why something works brilliantly on LinkedIn but would die a death on Instagram. And when a paid campaign isn't performing, you don't just report the numbers – you know what to change.

Sound familiar? We should talk.

We're looking for a brilliant Social Media Manager to join the team at Jam.

This is a hands-on role for someone who really knows social – organic and paid – and wants genuine ownership of their accounts.

You'll work across an exciting mix of clients spanning luxury travel, financial services, property and more, turning strategy into smart, creative social activity that gets results.

What you'll be doing

You'll work closely with our Social Media Account Director, contributing to strategy while taking ownership of the day-to-day planning, delivery and performance of your accounts.

That means you'll:

  • Plan BAU social activity around three months ahead, while leaving room to jump on the right reactive opportunities.
  • Build content calendars packed with ideas that are rooted in audience, platform and sector insight – not simply personal preference.
  • Get properly under the skin of your clients, their industries, competitors and audiences.
  • Know Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube inside out – and keep us ahead of new platforms, features, trends and algorithm changes.
  • Write great social copy, captions and hooks.
  • Turn ideas into clear, inspiring briefs for our content creators, designers, photographers and videographers.
  • Understand what great platform-native content looks like and confidently review creative before it reaches the client.
  • Plan and manage paid social campaigns, monitor performance and make informed optimisations when something isn't working.
  • Manage influencer and creator activity, from research and outreach through to briefing, delivery and reporting.
  • Oversee community management and identify opportunities to turn audience interaction into better content.
  • Take ownership of monthly reporting, going beyond vanity metrics to explain what happened, why it happened and what we're doing next.
  • Lead day-to-day client communication, meetings, feedback and amends.
  • Provide confident social counsel – including constructively challenging a client when you know there's a better approach.
  • Keep accounts organised, forward-planned and running smoothly.
  • Support and mentor more junior members of the team as we grow.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You won't be expected to shoot and edit all the content yourself. We have specialist creatives for that.

But you will need to know what we should create, why we're creating it, which platform it's for and what we want it to achieve – then brief the team brilliantly.

If you can also capture great social content on an iPhone or camera, even better. But it's a bonus, not a requirement.

Organic AND paid

This bit matters.

We're not looking for someone whose paid experience extends to pressing the Boost button.

You'll understand audiences, targeting, objectives, budgets, placements and creative. You'll be comfortable monitoring live campaigns, interpreting results and knowing when to adjust the audience, creative, spend or approach.

You'll have support from our Social Media Account Director, but at Manager level we need someone who can look at the numbers, identify a problem and recommend what happens next.

The same applies to organic. We want someone who understands why content performs – not just whether the engagement rate went up or down.

You'll be brilliant with clients

You'll become a trusted day-to-day contact across your accounts.

That means being responsive and organised, but it also means having an opinion.

We want someone who can explain why a recommendation is right, present ideas and results confidently, handle feedback professionally and guide clients towards the best course of action.

You don't need to know everything. But you should know your clients and their sectors well enough to provide informed, confident social counsel.

About you

You'll probably have around 3–5 years' experience in social media or digital marketing, ideally agency-side, and be comfortable juggling multiple clients and priorities.

  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness – understanding scopes, hours and budgets.
  • Plenty of initiative, curiosity and ideas.
  • Management or mentoring experience would be a bonus.

Most importantly, you'll be Humble, Hungry and Smart.

We want someone who's lovely to work with, hungry to produce brilliant work and smart enough to know there's always something new to learn – particularly in social.
