Purpose of the Role

To increase the visibility of the Association for Outdoor Therapy by creating and distributing engaging digital content and communications, and managing our online community. You will help us reach new members, share our success stories, and ensure our message is consistent across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation

  • Video Production (for Facebook/TikTok/Instagram etc.): Creating short, engaging video content that highlights our mission, events, or member stories.
  • Graphic Design: Using relevant software e.g. Canva, to create visually appealing posts, headers, and event flyers and materials.
  • Copywriting: Writing relevant, engaging posts, comments and captions for social media, professional updates for LinkedIn, and scripts for video content.

Platform Management

  • Scheduling: Planning and scheduling posts using available tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite) to ensure and maintain a consistent online presence.
  • Engagement: Monitoring and moderating comments and messages; responding to queries or escalating them to Committee members where necessary.
  • LinkedIn Growth: Sharing news relevant to the UK sector and connecting with partner organisations.
  • Facebook Community: Managing our Facebook Page and private group to foster a sense of community among members.

Strategy & Insight

  • Staying up-to-date with and emulating social media trends (where appropriate and relevant to the sector).
  • Reporting back to the Committee regularly on which posts performed best (likes, shares, reach etc.).

Person Specification

  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable using Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Familiarity with Canva and/or CapCut, or equivalent tools, is a huge plus.
  • Creativity: An eye for design and the ability to turn information and updates into engaging and captivating narrative and digital content.
  • Communication: Excellent grasp of written English with the ability to adapt tone (e.g., formal for LinkedIn, fun for TikTok).
  • Reliability: Ability to commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week (increasing at times leading up to events) and meet agreed-upon posting schedules. Ability to stick to AOT branding style/messaging.
  • Values: A knowledge of and passion for outdoor therapy and the UK voluntary sector, and an awareness of diversity, inclusion and equity, and ways to build authentically and ethically on this within content creation for both professional and public audiences.
