Social Media & Content Editor

Big Day Productions | Holytown, Scotland

£30,000–£34,000 FTE
£18,000–£20,400 actual salary | 24 hours per week
Tuesday–Thursday | Permanent, part-time | Office-based

We're looking for a talented Social Media & Content Editor to join Big Day Productions and help shape how real wedding stories show up in the world.

Big Day Productions is one of the UK's leading wedding photography, film and content creation companies. We've captured more than 6,000 weddings across the UK, which means we have an enormous library of incredible moments and stories waiting to be brought to life.

Your job is to find them, shape them and turn them into content people actually want to watch.

The role

This is a hands-on creative role.

You'll work closely with our Brand Storyteller and wider team to turn wedding footage, original content and ideas into a consistent stream of engaging short-form content across Instagram, TikTok and our other social channels.

You'll edit, plan and publish content, stay close to what's happening across social media and the wedding industry, and look for creative ways to make relevant trends work for BDP.

We also use AI, automation and content workflows to help us create and distribute content at scale. You'll be the human eye across that output, quality checking what's being produced, making adjustments where needed and making sure what goes out always feels like us.

What you'll be doing

  • Editing engaging Reels, TikToks and social-first video from our wedding footage
  • Finding great moments in our archive and turning them into fresh content
  • Planning, writing, scheduling and publishing content across our social channels
  • Staying on top of social trends, formats and sounds, as well as what's happening across the wider wedding industry
  • Finding ways to make relevant trends work for BDP rather than simply copying them
  • Quality checking content produced through our wider AI, automation and content workflows
  • Managing comments and community engagement
  • Reviewing what's performing and using what we learn to make the next piece better
  • Working closely with our Brand Storyteller and wider team on ideas, campaigns and new content

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Creating content for our couples

Not everything you create will be marketing.

Some of our couples have social Reels included within their wedding package. You'll take their professionally produced wedding films and turn them into shorter, beautifully edited pieces of content they'll be excited to share themselves.

These are real client deliverables, so creativity, attention to detail and reliability matter.

And sometimes those same moments become brilliant content for BDP too.

Who we're looking for

First and foremost, you need to be a genuinely strong short-form editor, with a portfolio or showreel to prove it.

You'll understand hooks, rhythm, pacing, music and what makes people keep watching.

Beyond that, we're looking for someone who:

  • Takes ownership, spots opportunities to make things better and enjoys seeing ideas through
  • Is naturally curious about social media, creative trends and the wedding world
  • Takes feedback well and isn't precious about changing an edit or trying another approach
  • Enjoys experimenting with new ideas, tools and technology
  • Is organised, dependable and follows things through
  • Brings ideas to the team without needing every idea to be theirs
  • Is collaborative, positive and simply good to work with
  • Is confident using professional video editing software and comfortable learning new tools and workflows

You don't need to be obsessed with weddings.

Great creative judgement, curiosity and an understanding of people and storytelling matter much more.

  • Permanent, part-time position
