The Small Business Unit within London & Partners works to support entrepreneurs to thrive. There are 450,000 businesses in London employing fewer than 10 people. These businesses build and strengthen local communities; bring investment to town centres; contribute to thriving high streets; and provide access to stable, local jobs. They are key to maintaining the dynamism and inclusivity of London’s economy.
Made Smarter
Made Smarter is a Department for Business and Trade (DBT) funded programme designed to boost productivity, growth, and efficiency in manufacturing SMEs through the adoption of Industrial Digital Technologies (IDTs).
Purpose of role
To support the Social Media Content Manager with social first content creation that communicates our brand messages, reflects London’s diversity and showcases our small business support services, including Grow London Local and Made Smarter London.
Working with the Marketing and Social teams, you will be instrumental in the planning, logistics, filming and editing of exciting, fast paced content published across our social media channels (organic and paid). Focussing on small business and consumer audiences, you will create content that informs, inspires and drives use of our services.
Key Tasks
- Collaborate with the Social Media Content Manager to source, create, write, film and edit photo and video content across our social media channels including Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X.
- Produce engaging, accurate, and high-quality written copy.
- Contribute to the planning, strategy and ideation of content during monthly content planning sessions with multiple stakeholders.
- Work closely with in-house content, design, marketing and communications teams to ensure we have the right insights, content and messaging in place
- Maintain consistent and engaging community management.
- Monitor relevant trending topics and conversations and report back to the Social Media Content Manager to leverage potential content opportunities.
- Manage footage/social media assets within the L&P’s asset library.
- Coordinate equipment within the social media team, including phones, gimbals, mics, tripods, lights, etc.
- Collaborate with external agencies for media planning and campaign alignment, as required.
- Support on social, marketing, and outreach activity e.g. attending events or photoshoots.
- Ensure all content is cleared for usage with the relevant permissions and model release.
- Any other tasks reasonably allocated by line manager.

You’ll have/bring
- Proven track record of writing engaging and accurate copy
- Ability to capture, edit and optimise videos and photos to a high standard
- Competent in Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar
- Hands-on experience marketing or creating content on all or most of the following social channels: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, and X
- General knowledge and understanding of social media landscape – namely content trends, ideally across B2B and B2C channels
- A self-motivated individual who can adjust to the flexibility of the ever-changing world of social media
- Demonstrable experience in working with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent organisational skills and a track record of delivering work on time
- Commitment to follow protocols and guidelines at all times to manage corporate and reputational risk
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office especially PowerPoint, Excel and Word
- Social media advertising and community management skills are strongly desirable and a willingness to develop these skills is essential
- Competence with social performance monitoring tools such as Hootsuite is desirable
- Committed to continuous learning and evolving with industry best practice
