About Schplendid
Schplendid is a direct-to-consumer sofa brand founded by Rohan Blacker, who previously founded Sofa.com and Pooky Lighting. The company has been trading for about a year and is growing fast. The team is small (six people, two of them in marketing), and hands-on, and the Putney office doubles as the brand's showroom.
Social is Schplendid's strongest channel by a distance: close to 80,000 followers on Instagram and over 50,000 on Facebook, with a core audience aged 35 and up. Meta ads also perform well. The content strategy is deliberately authentic and not AI-generated: the founder and team appear regularly on camera, and that has helped build a strong community.
The role
The Head of Marketing currently runs social media day to day alongside her other responsibilities and needs someone to take that on.
This is a step-up role: ideal for someone moving from a junior social media or marketing position into more ownership and responsibility, working closely with Lydia rather than running strategy independently.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

The existing strategy is working and this new hire will keep it running and help it evolve over time.
What you'll be doing
- Plan, create and schedule content across Instagram and Facebook, including carousels, video and stories, in line with the existing strategy.
- Film and edit content in the Putney showroom, working with the founder and wider team, who are regularly and happily on camera.
- Manage day-to-day community engagement: replying to DMs and comments across channels.
- Handle influencer logistics for inbound requests (roughly one to two collaborations a month; demand already exists, so no outreach needed).
- Support Meta ads activity and keep an eye on what's performing.
- Keep the brand's authentic, non-AI content style intact while helping it evolve.

What we're looking for
- Experience running social media day to day, ideally at junior executive level, ready to take on more responsibility.
- A strong creative eye for photo, video and carousel content, and confidence with tools like Canva.
- Comfortable being hands-on with filming and happy working closely with a small, camera-friendly team.
- Enjoys the operational side of social (scheduling, replying, organising) as much as the creative side.
- You don't need to be a trained designer or a high-level strategist. Schplendid is prioritising creative hunger and a willingness to learn over a fully mastered process, so some flexibility on experience is expected.
Location and logistics
- Based at Schplendid's Putney office, four days a week on-site.
- On-site time is needed because the office is also the showroom used for filming.
- Reports to Head of Marketing.
- Salary: £33,000 to £35,000 DOE
