Job Overview
About The Role
If the idea of spending your day creating TikTok's, spotting emerging trends and finding new ways to connect with customers through Reels sounds right up your street, then you’re in the right place. At AO, our Social Media team live and breathe this stuff- and we’re looking for someone who’s just as passionate about bringing big ideas to life.
As our new Social Media Executive, you’ll play a key role in creating content that genuinely engages our followers and brings new customers into the AO world. Working closely with our Social Media Manager you’ll plan, create and deliver standout content that builds brand love and keeps people talking. You'll collaborate with teams across Brand Marketing, including PR, SEO, Sponsorship and Campaigns, ensuring our social activity supports wider business objectives and delivers meaningful results.
Our people are our superpower, and we’re unstoppable when we’re together! We want your ideas to flow, and what better way to make that happen than being based onsite, 5 days a week, where our culture fuels creativity, collaboration and growth. If a £1 bet in the pub between two friends can become the UKs most trusted electrical retailer, imagine what else can be achieved when we’re together!
Here's What You Can Expect To Be Doing
- Supporting the Social Media Team to plan and deliver engaging content across AO's social channels.
- Creating and filming video content for platforms including TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube.
- Scheduling and publishing content to maximise reach and engagement.
- Monitoring social conversations and identifying trending topics and opportunities.
- Using social listening tools to understand audience behaviour and brand sentiment.
- Taking a test-and-learn approach to content creation and recommending improvements based on performance.
- Supporting weekly and monthly reporting, sharing insights and recommendations.
- Working with influencers and user-generated content (UGC) creators on campaigns.
- Collaborating with teams across the business to bring campaigns and ideas to life.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

A Bit About Us
We’re big on appliances and electricals, REALLY big. Washing machines, fridge freezers and TVs? They’re our bread and butter. Mobiles, Airwraps and Ring doorbells? Yep, those too. If it plugs in, powers up or makes life easier, AO probably has it.
But we’re more than that… For over 25 years, trust has been at the heart of everything we do, helping us become the UK’s most trusted electrical retailer. Our customers rate us 4.9 on Trustpilot from over ONE MILLION reviews and more 5-star ratings than any other UK electrical retailer, because they know they can rely on us and it’s the exact same for our AOers too.
