Role: Social Media Executive
Reporting to: Head of Marketing and Communications
Based: JD Gyms Head Office, Wigan
Purpose of the Role
Assist in managing JD Gyms’ social media presence across all platforms by planning and creating content, scheduling posts, engaging with followers, moderating engagement, and analyzing performance metrics. Plan and arrange content creation, including with paid creators. The goal is to enhance brand awareness, maximize reach, and promote an online community among members.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Engagement: Monitor our social channels and provide quick, helpful responses. Engage with members in a way that conveys our brand tone of voice and helps create community.
- Content Creation: Everything from ideation, planning, filming, and editing content for social media. Organize content filming with members of the JD Gyms team or external content creators.
- Content Submissions: Review content submissions from gym teams or members. Share content when appropriate and provide constructive feedback where necessary.
- Copywriting: Writing engaging, entertaining, or informative captions to accompany our content, both content created by the Social Team and content submitted by gym teams.
- Content Scheduling and Publishing: Take ownership of planning and scheduling posts, contributing to an ongoing content calendar that the team works from.
- Pre-sale: Assist with social activity to promote new gym openings. Plan and manage content timelines, write captions, and schedule posts. Ensure posts are boosted when applicable.
- Analytics and Reporting: Track key performance indicators (KPIs), analyze data, and report on the effectiveness of social media campaigns to inform future strategies.
- Research: Stay up to date with relevant trends, best practices, and platform updates to ensure we remain current.
- User-generated content: Find content creators who fit our brand and amplify reach. Analyze their metrics, contact creators or their agents, negotiate fees, brief content, arrange contracts, and payments.
- New club openings: Attend new gym openings to create content to support sales.
- Admin: Day-to-day admin tasks to support the wider Marketing Team as required.

Essential Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of the gym, fitness industry, or sport
- Excellent written English skills, with a creative flair
- Experience using social media platforms including Meta channels, TikTok, and X
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
- A sense of humor and the ability to convey this in written replies and copy whilst upholding and protecting JD Gyms’ tone of voice
- Creativity and content creation skills
- Knowledge of video editing software – i.e., CapCut
- Strong organizational skills
- Great communication skills
- Team player, ready to help others and share ideas
- The ability to work autonomously and proactively
- Knowledge of current trends and these can be adapted to fit the business and its audience
- Insight and understanding of what motivates and inspires the fitness community
- Knowledge of relevant content creators
