Social Media Executive & Internal Communications – Milton Keynes

This role sits at the heart of Group 1's social media presence, leading the creation, publishing and growth of engaging content across our brands and platforms. The postholder will bring energy, creativity and platform expertise to build Group 1's digital voice, spotting trends, producing standout content and driving engagement across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok.

Alongside this, the role provides support for internal communications, helping bring colleague stories, updates and campaigns to life across our engagement channels, ensuring what happens inside the business is captured and shared with the same creative energy as our external content.

The role requires flexibility and adaptability, operating confidently in a fast-paced environment and shifting focus in response to changing business needs and priorities.

What you’ll do day to day

  • Lead the execution of the Group Social Media Strategy across multiple brands and platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and TikTok), staying ahead of the latest platform trends and emerging behaviours.
  • Plan, create, edit and publish engaging, platform-tailored content on a regular, ongoing basis.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to showcase colleague stories, business achievements, events and key updates across social and digital channels.
  • Ensure tone of voice and content consistently align with brand guidelines.
  • Support our Marketing Managers with campaign activity and content creation.
  • Manage the Group 1 social pages through Hootsuite or similar scheduling and listening tools.
  • Monitor trends, conversations and competitor activity to keep content fresh and relevant.
  • Create clear, engaging content that brings colleague stories and business updates to a wider audience, adapting style and tone for internal channels.
  • Support the planning and delivery of communication campaigns and business-wide messaging.
  • Support colleague events, including town halls, leadership meetings and recognition activities, with a focus on capturing and amplifying content from them.

Helpful skills and qualifications

  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, algorithms and best practice.
  • Proven experience in social media management, content creation and digital/visual storytelling.
  • Confident content creator, strong writing, editing and storytelling skills across formats (copy, imagery, video).
  • Experience using tools such as Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite and similar scheduling/analytics platforms.
  • Analytical mindset, comfortable interpreting engagement and performance data to shape content strategy.
  • Creative eye and awareness of visual trends across platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, confident building relationships across the business.
  • Experience with colleague engagement platforms such as Workvivo is a plus.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple channels and priorities under pressure.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and brand consistency.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and full of ideas for new content.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business needs.
