The Role
The Social Media Executive supports the delivery of the organisation's social media strategy by creating, scheduling and optimising content across LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube. The role is responsible for developing engaging social-first organic and paid content, monitoring performance, managing community engagement and helping to grow awareness, reach and engagement among consumer and business audiences. Working closely with the social media manager, the post holder also supports reporting, stakeholder requests and the adoption of social media best practices.
The Team
This role is part of the marketing and communications team. We look after Energy Saving Trust’s website, campaigns, press office, and digital marketing, as well as delivering campaign for external clients.
The team helps consumers, businesses, and governments to save energy, save money on energy bills, and reduce carbon emissions.
We work closely with our policy and insight teams to present Energy Saving Trust’s expertise in an accessible and engaging way, tailored to a range of audiences.
We are a creative team and work collaboratively to find solutions and share best practice. We are committed to developing our roles and actively create opportunities to learn from each other.
What You Will Do
Working closely with the social media manager and the wider content team, you will:
- Create and publish engaging organic and paid social content, including copy, graphics, carousels, videos and reels, tailored to consumer and business audiences.
- Support the delivery of the social media strategy by helping to grow awareness, reach, engagement and follower growth across LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube.
- Manage the social content calendar, scheduling posts through our social media management platform and native social platforms where appropriate.
- Monitor and moderate social media channels, responding to comments and escalating issues or risks when required.
- Use data, insights, trends and AI tools to improve content performance, streamline content creation and support continuous improvement.
- Support reporting, stakeholder requests, colleague training and the wider delivery of the social media strategy.

You’ll have bags of enthusiasm for all things social, be highly organised, and have:
- Demonstrable experience creating engaging social-first content for B2B and B2C audiences, including copy, graphics and video content, to deliver strategic objectives and drive engagement.
- Strong copywriting, editing and communication skills, with the ability to create accurate, audience-focused content and maintain brand standards.
- Experience using social media management and scheduling platforms, alongside community management and moderation across social channels.
- Proficiency in content creation tools such as Canva, CapCut and Adobe, combined with experience using reporting, insights and data to optimise performance.
- Highly organised, collaborative and proactive, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday. This will be a full-time role and as standard we offer all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working.
