About Green Lane Co

Green Lane Co is an independent country and western lifestyle retailer based in the Lake District. With our existing store in Hawkshead and our new Keswick store opening soon, we're looking for a creative Freelance Social Media Manager to help us take the next step with the brand. We stock a growing range of country, western and lifestyle brands, and we're looking for someone who can bring that to life across our social channels.

This isn't a role where we want to hand someone a list of posts to schedule each week. We want someone who understands social media, enjoys creating content and can bring their own ideas to the table. You'll have the freedom to spot opportunities, experiment with content and help shape how Green Lane Co looks and communicates online. Ultimately, we want our social media to do three things: grow our audience, increase engagement and turn that attention into footfall in Hawkshead and Keswick and sales through our website.

The Role

This is a freelance role requiring approximately one day per week, with flexibility around how that time is used. Some weeks may involve spending time in Hawkshead or Keswick shooting content, while others may be predominantly editing, planning and scheduling from home. We want someone who is comfortable getting out into the stores, picking up a camera or phone and creating the content themselves, from initial idea through to filming, editing and publishing. You'll also occasionally join us at country shows, store events, product launches and other relevant events to capture content. Travel to both Hawkshead and Keswick is essential, so applicants will need to be able to travel independently between locations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Who We're Looking For

We're much more interested in what you can create than what qualifications you have. You could already be working freelance with several clients, have worked in-house for another brand, or be relatively early in your career with an exceptional portfolio.

You'll ideally:

  • Have experience creating social media content for a brand or business
  • Have a strong portfolio of photography and short-form video content
  • Be confident filming and editing Reels and TikToks
  • Understand what makes people stop scrolling and engage with content
  • Have a good understanding of Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
  • Be comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
  • Be able to turn one content shoot into multiple useful pieces of content
  • Understand basic social media analytics and Google Analytics
  • Have strong written communication and attention to detail
  • Be confident approaching staff and customers to capture natural content
  • Be able to travel regularly to both Hawkshead and Keswick
  • Be available for occasional events, launches and country shows

An interest in country clothing, rural life, western wear, shooting, farming, equestrian or similar areas would be a major advantage.

You don't need to know every brand or product we sell from day one, but you should understand the type of customer we're trying to reach and be genuinely interested in the world Green Lane Co operates in.
