Company Description

Global Human Rights Centre (GHRC) is a policy-focused organization working at the intersection of human rights, climate, and agrifood systems. The Centre provides research, policy analysis, and advisory support to governments and international organizations, helping strengthen food security, climate resilience, and inclusive rural livelihoods.

Location: Remote - Worldwide applicants welcomed

Hours: Part-time (2-3 days per week + scheduling posts across the week)

Salary: Competitive (based on experience)

Role Description

This is a part-time remote role for a Social Media Manager. The Social Media Manager will plan, create, and schedule content across GHRC’s social media channels to amplify research outputs, policy briefs, and project updates, particularly related to human rights, climate justice, and rural livelihoods. The role involves managing daily platform activity, monitoring engagement, and optimizing posts to increase reach among key audiences such as policymakers, practitioners, and civil society organizations. The Social Media Manager will collaborate with research and program teams to translate complex policy and field insights into accessible, compelling social content, including posts, threads, short videos, and visual summaries. The role also includes tracking analytics, adjusting strategy based on performance data, and supporting digital campaigns aligned with GHRC’s advocacy and international engagement work. You will also occasionally support the social media activities of our connected organisations and initiatives, ensuring a consistent brand and communications strategy across all platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow our presence across LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X (Twitter), TikTok.
  • Develop and implement a social media content strategy.
  • Independently create engaging written, graphic, and short-form video content.
  • Plan and schedule content throughout the week using social media management tools.
  • Grow our online communities through creative campaigns and audience engagement.
  • Monitor channels daily, responding to comments and messages professionally.
  • Stay up to date with trends, platform updates, and best practice.
  • Create content around international awareness days, campaigns, events, publications, and conferences.
  • Produce analytics reports and recommend strategies to increase reach, engagement, and follower growth.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice across all platforms.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Social Media Marketing and Social Media Optimization (SMO) to manage and grow organizational presence across platforms.
  • Strong Communication and Writing skills to convey complex policy and research insights in clear, accessible, and engaging formats.
  • Experience in Content Strategy, including planning editorial calendars, aligning content with organizational goals, and tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools for tracking social media performance, reporting key metrics, and refining digital outreach strategies.
  • Knowledge of human rights, climate policy, agrifood systems, or international development is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience in mission-driven, non-profit, advocacy, or research organizations is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, International Relations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
