This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Social Media Manager based in the United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to shape the social media presence of a fast-paced, international news organization delivering impactful journalism to a global audience.
You will play a key role in distributing timely, accurate, and engaging content across multiple social platforms while adapting stories for diverse audiences.
Working closely with editorial and content teams, you will help maximize the reach and impact of high-quality reporting.
The position combines content strategy, real-time publishing, audience engagement, and performance analysis in a dynamic news environment.
You will contribute to creative campaigns while supporting audience growth across established and emerging platforms.

Accountabilities
As a Social Media Manager, you will oversee day-to-day social media operations, ensuring content is published quickly, accurately, and effectively while supporting audience growth and engagement.
- Manage daily social media activities across multiple platforms, ensuring timely publishing and consistent audience engagement.
- Publish and distribute news stories, articles, videos, and multimedia content across social media channels.
- Adapt editorial content into platform-specific formats while preserving accuracy, context, and journalistic standards.
- Collaborate closely with journalists, editors, and internal stakeholders to create compelling social media content.
- Monitor the news cycle and identify opportunities to maximize the visibility and impact of important stories.
- Create, schedule, and publish original content tailored to different audiences and platforms.
- Analyze social media performance metrics, monitor audience trends, and optimize content strategies based on insights.
- Support promotional initiatives, membership campaigns, special projects, and audience development activities.
- Contribute to expanding international reach and strengthening overall social media performance.
- Work within a rotating shift schedule, including periodic evening and weekend coverage to support continuous news publishing.

Requirements
The ideal candidate has experience managing social media in a fast-paced environment, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of digital content strategy.
- Proven experience in social media management, digital communications, digital marketing, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience managing major social media platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook.
- Good understanding of LinkedIn, TikTok, and platform-specific content formats, audiences, and engagement strategies.
- Strong knowledge of social media best practices, content optimization, platform algorithms, and audience growth techniques.
- Excellent written and spoken English (Upper-Intermediate to Advanced level).
- Outstanding organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to publishing accurate, high-quality content.
- Ability to work efficiently and make sound decisions in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience adapting editorial or journalistic content for different digital platforms.
- Familiarity with multimedia content creation; experience with video editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar software is an advantage.
- Previous experience in journalism, publishing, media, audience development, breaking news, or community growth is considered a plus.
