Job Description
Joining Busuu means being part of one of the top EdTech companies in the world, a multiple award-winner recognised for its innovation and impact in language learning. Busuu's vision is to empower people through languages. We are the world's largest online community for language learning, with 120+ million registered users. We make learning a language easy by combining AI-powered courses with feedback from our global community of native speakers and lesson content designed for real life.
What does a Social Media Manager at Busuu do?
We're hiring a Social Media Manager to own Busuu's organic social presence and turn it into one of our strongest growth channels. It's an exciting time to join. We're building a creator-led content pillar, anchored on long-form video and atomised across platforms and backing organic as a serious growth lever. You'll be central to proving that model works and making the case for scaling it.
The role supports both B2C and B2B arms of the business, so you'll be speaking to two quite different audiences: someone learning English to communicate better at work, HR and L&D professionals deciding what to roll out across a workforce. It's also a role for the AI-native era of social, where AI helps you produce more and test faster, freeing you up to spend your best hours on strategy and big ideas.
This is a hands-on role. You'll sit in Organic Marketing, working closely with Creative, SEO, Performance Marketing and Product Marketing, with specialist support around you: a freelance Community Manager, an Influencer Manager we're hiring shortly, editing resource, and production partners for bigger shoots.
What you'll do as a Social Media Manager
Own the strategy across B2C and B2B π
- Set and run the organic presence across our priority platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, plus emerging channels worth testing), covering both our consumer audience and our business audience and tailoring the approach to each.
- Own the content calendar end to end. Edutainment is a big part of the mix, alongside storytelling, product moments, cultural relevance and reactive posting.
- Partner with SEO so our output builds a library of evergreen assets that earn visibility in search and in AI assistants, not just a spike in the feed.
- Work closely with Performance Marketing on which organic learnings and creative concepts deserve spend behind them.
Build the creator-led content engine π¬
- Help stand up our new creator-led pillar: long-form video as the anchor asset, atomised into short-form cuts, clips and stills across every platform.
- Concept, shoot and ship. You'll be behind the camera and across the edit, using our editing resource and production partners to move faster rather than to hand the work over.
- Collaborate closely with the Creative team on the ideas, formats and assets that need their input.
- Direct on-camera talent, colleagues and creators so they land the idea and the tone and be comfortable stepping in front of the camera yourself when the content calls for it.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Grow the community and creator network π€
- Set the direction our Community Manager and Influencer Manager work to, own the tricky judgement calls and hold the standard for who we partner with and how we show up in the comments.
- Build a repeatable creator and UGC pipeline across our key markets, including credible voices in the L&D and workplace space for the B2B side and report on what each partnership returned.
- Turn community signal into content ideas and feed it back to Product and Creative.
Prove it works, then scale it π
- Run a genuine testing habit: form a hypothesis, ship it, read the numbers, roll the learning into the next batch.
- Own social reporting across engagement, growth and the downstream signal we care about with a clear point of view on what to double down on and what to stop.
- When something works, build the system that lets us do it ten times over and use the results to make the case for further investment. Scaling output without diluting quality is a core challenge of this role.
What we're looking for:
- 3-5 years running organic social for a brand with a global audience. We're open on sector: consumer, B2B, media, agency or creator-side all count. Bonus if you've worked across both consumer and business audiences, or in EdTech, apps or subscription products.
- A portfolio of content you personally made, not just briefed. Show us the numbers on the ones that worked and be honest about the ones that didn't.
- Strong short-form and long-form video instincts and the ability to brief an editor properly.
- Comfortable on camera when needed. You don't need a following, but you shouldn't be put off by presenting.
- Analytically strong. Busuu is a data-led business and we expect this role to hold its own in that environment: designing tests properly, interrogating platform data rather than accepting it at face value, understanding how social contributes to acquisition alongside our other channels and building an evidence-based case for investment that stands up to scrutiny.
- Strong project management. You'll have multiple shoots, creators, platforms and stakeholders in flight at once and we need that to run smoothly without a producer behind you.
- You get a high volume of good work out of the door and you know how to use freelancers and production partners as leverage rather than as a queue to wait in.
- AI-fluent: you already use AI daily to raise the quality and speed of your output and you're keen to build systems and automations rather than stopping at prompts.
- Experience running creator and influencer partnerships from sourcing through to reporting.
- Paid social experience is desirable, along with an appetite for working closely with Performance Marketing.
- A real interest in language learning. You don't need to be multilingual, but you should care about the thing we're building. Additional languages are a plus given our audience.
- Excellent written English and a good ear for tone.
- A can-do attitude and visible enthusiasm. This is a build-it role, with the autonomy and ambiguity that comes with that.
- Genuinely online. You know what's happening on social this week, not last quarter.
