Freelance Social Media Manager for Independent Bookshop
Join an exciting opportunity to shape the online presence of a fast-growing independent bookshop specializing in romantasy and fantasy. As a freelance Social Media Manager, you will collaborate closely with the founder to transform raw video and photo content into engaging, community-driven posts for TikTok and Instagram. Your creativity and understanding of BookTok and Bookstagram trends will be essential in developing content ideas, crafting scripts or filming briefs, and editing footage into compelling short-form videos. The primary objective is to boost organic engagement and drive book sales, while maintaining the brand’s unique, community-led personality.
Deliverables
- Develop and execute a content calendar tailored to TikTok and Instagram audiences.
- Generate creative concepts, hooks, and scripts for short-form video content.
- Edit raw video and photo assets into polished TikToks, Reels, and other social posts.
- Collaborate with the founder to capture behind-the-scenes moments and highlight key products, events, and community activities.
- Monitor engagement metrics and adjust content strategies to maximize reach and interaction.
- Ensure all content aligns with the brand’s tone, values, and community-focused approach.

Requirements
- Proven experience managing social media for e-commerce, retail, or book-related brands, with a strong portfolio of TikTok and Instagram content.
- Deep familiarity with BookTok, Bookstagram, and current social media trends in the book community.
- Proficiency in video editing tools and mobile content creation apps.
- Ability to develop creative content ideas and write concise scripts or briefs.
- Experience with TikTok Shop, Shopify, or similar e-commerce platforms is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Available for an initial six-week freelance contract, with potential for extension.
- Based in the UK or able to work UK hours preferred.
