Social Media Content Creator
We're looking for a Social Media Content Creator to join our in-house marketing team and take ownership of the day-to-day life of Socktopus across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook, with the potential to develop our presence on YouTube too.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to spend five days a week sitting behind a laptop scheduling posts.
We want someone who can be our roving reporter across the Socktoverse. One day you might be at HQ filming a new collection, the next visiting one of our stores, capturing a collaboration, interviewing a designer, attending an event, jumping on something happening online or turning a completely ridiculous conversation in the office into tomorrow's Reel.
You'll sit alongside our internal marketing and creative teams, helping bridge the gap between the idea and the content people actually see.
Role will be: 2 days a week at Socktopus HQ, Market Harborough and 3 days in the wider Socktoverse
Salary: dependent on experience
What you'll be doing
You'll take a hands-on role in planning, creating and managing Socktopus social content, including:
- Working along side the team to plan and maintain our social content calendar across Instagram, TikTok and Facebook
- Creating, filming and editing short-form video and social-first content
- Getting out into the Socktoverse to capture what's actually happening across our stores, events, collaborations, shoots and HQ
- Being comfortable appearing on camera yourself when the content calls for it
- Directing and filming other members of the Socktopus team who may be considerably less comfortable in front of a camera
- Spotting moments, stories and opportunities that weren't necessarily on the content plan
- Turning campaigns, product launches and marketing ideas into content that actually works on social
- Writing captions and social copy in the Socktopus Tone of Voice
- Managing day-to-day posting, comments, messages and community engagement
- Keeping a close eye on trends, formats, platform changes and what's happening in internet culture
- Working with the wider marketing team and external agency on campaigns and content
- Identifying and making use of great customer and user-generated content
- Helping build and organise our growing library of social assets
- Tracking performance and using the results to make the next piece of content better
- Helping us grow reach, engagement, community, traffic and ultimately the commercial contribution of social

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why you're a good match

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
There's also scope for the role to develop as Socktopus grows, including greater involvement in creators, collaborations and wider social strategy.
Who we're looking for
We're deliberately keeping this fairly open.
You might be a junior social media obsessive who's spent the last couple of years creating brilliant content and is ready to take ownership of a brand.
Or you might already be an experienced Social Media Manager looking for somewhere you can have much more creative influence.
We're interested in meeting both.
What matters more is that you:
- Understand what makes good social content rather than simply knowing how to use social platforms
- Be passionate about Socktopus!
- Are genuinely comfortable filming, editing and creating content yourself
- Are confident appearing on camera
- Can make other people feel comfortable enough to appear on camera too
- Have a strong instinct for what makes people stop scrolling
- Understand Instagram, TikTok and Facebook and the different role each platform plays
- Can spot a trend without feeling compelled to jump on every trend
- Write well and can adapt to an established brand voice
- Are organised enough to work from a plan but confident enough to abandon it when something better happens
- Can work independently without disappearing off into your own little social media universe
- Are happy travelling around the UK when there's something worth capturing
- Understand that likes and views are lovely, but social media ultimately needs to do something for the business

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You don't need a marketing degree.
We care considerably more about what you've made, how you think and whether you understand social.
What you'll get
You'll be joining Socktopus at a point where there's a lot happening and plenty of freedom to help shape what our social presence becomes.
You'll work directly with our Creative Director, alongside our wider marketing team, with access to the people, products, stores, collaborations and general goings-on that make Socktopus what it is.
You'll have:
- Real ownership of social content across a growing national retail brand
- Plenty of creative freedom and the opportunity to bring your own ideas
- Access to 14 stores and the wider Socktopus world as your content playground
- The opportunity to work across product launches, collaborations, events, retail and ecommerce
- A role that can grow with you and the business
- A genuinely varied working week
- A team that would much rather hear your slightly ridiculous idea than have you keep it to yourself
How to apply
Send us your CV, but please don't stop there.
We'd much rather see what you can actually do.
Send us your portfolio, social accounts, Reels, TikToks, photography, campaigns, personal projects or anything else that shows us how you think and create.
And tell us briefly:
- If you had the Socktoverse at your disposal for a week, what would you make?
- If you think you could make Socktopus considerably more interesting to follow, we want to hear from you.
