Zero Friends

Zero Friends is a creative agency working with a mix of hospitality, lifestyle and other ambitious brands. We help our clients with everything from branding and websites to social media, content creation, PR, PPC and SEO. We’ve been doing it for over a decade, combining good ideas, strong creative and smart marketing to help businesses get noticed and grow. We’re a small team, which means everyone gets involved, ideas are always welcome and no two days tend to look exactly the same.

The Role

We’re looking for a passionate, creative, organised and proactive Social Media Manager to join the Zero Friends team. You’ll work across a mix of client accounts, helping us plan, create and manage their day-to-day social media. A lot of our clients are in hospitality and lifestyle, so one day you might be creating content for a restaurant and the next working on something completely different.

This is a hands-on role, so it’s not just about sitting behind a laptop scheduling posts. You’ll regularly be out creating content with us, spotting opportunities for photos, videos, Reels and Stories, and helping turn what’s happening within our clients’ businesses into engaging social content.

You’ll also have regular contact with clients, gathering updates, discussing upcoming content and helping make sure their social activity keeps moving.

You’ll need to live in York or be able to travel into the city easily when needed. Being available locally is an important part of the role, as we regularly create content with our clients and you’ll need to join us for photo and video shoots, most of which take place in and around York city centre.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We’re looking for someone who already understands social media and is happy to get stuck in. Someone who spots a good Reel opportunity, knows what makes people stop scrolling and genuinely enjoys coming up with new ideas.

  • Working alongside our content creators to capture behind-the-scenes footage, quick videos, Reels and other social-first content.
  • Keeping up with what’s happening on social media and spotting trends and opportunities that actually make sense for our clients.
  • Helping make sure every client has a consistent flow of fresh, interesting content.
  • Adapting quickly when plans change, new opportunities come up, or clients need something turned around quickly.

What We’re Looking For

  • Based in York or within easy travelling distance of the city.
  • Experience managing social media accounts for businesses.
  • Experience with organic social media and paid social campaigns, including Meta Ads.
  • Good experience using Meta Business Suite, plus a strong working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. This is essential.

  • Someone who can comfortably manage several fast-moving client accounts without things slipping through the cracks.
  • Reliable, organised and comfortable working independently.
  • Flexible enough to attend content shoots when required.
