Summary
The Social Media Officer will play a crucial role in enhancing the Council's digital presence by creating and managing engaging content across various social media platforms. This position is essential for supporting the Council's communication strategies and corporate priorities through creative storytelling, digital marketing, and audience engagement. The officer will utilize skills in video production, photography, and digital content creation to ensure that residents receive timely and relevant information, thereby increasing public engagement and awareness.
Responsibilities
- Develop and publish engaging content on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
- Produce high-quality written content, including social media posts, articles, blogs, and promotional materials.
- Capture and edit photography and video content for digital campaigns.
- Design graphics and multimedia content using approved design software.
- Plan and schedule content in alignment with communication objectives and organizational priorities.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to enquiries, and engage with audiences professionally and promptly.
- Support the execution of communication and marketing campaigns across digital platforms.

Requirements
- Experience in managing and delivering content across multiple social media platforms.
- Proven track record of creating successful social media campaigns and digital communication initiatives.
- Proficiency in producing engaging written content for online audiences.
- Skills in creating and editing photography and video content.
- Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent.
- Qualification in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, Media Studies, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

Additional Information
- Working hours are 37 hours per week, from 08:30 to 17:00 (16:30 on Fridays).
- The role requires a DVLA Web check.
- Location: Brentwood and Rochford, with 2-3 days in the office and the remainder working from home.
- Bi-weekly payment schedule.
