About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Senior Specialist - Social Media. This role is instrumental in shaping and executing the club’s social media strategy, ensuring the delivery of engaging, high-quality content across multiple platforms. The Senior Specialist will operate within the Social team as part of the broader Creative Content team, focusing on creating and publishing diverse content types including organic, branded, sponsored, marketing, and communication materials. The primary goal is to drive the growth of Liverpool FC’s social channels, enhance engagement levels, and maximize conversion opportunities, including directing traffic to owned and operated platforms.
The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and optimizing social-first content that increases engagement, reach, community growth, and brand affinity. Collaborating with various internal departments such as Content, Graphics, Commercial, and Marketing, they will develop innovative ideas, formats, and concepts to keep the club at the forefront of social media innovation. The role also involves monitoring social media trends, cultural moments, and emerging platform opportunities relevant to our audience, ensuring the club remains competitive and relevant in the digital space.
Additionally, the Senior Specialist will provide comprehensive matchday social media coverage at Anfield and during away fixtures across competitions such as the Premier League, Champions League, WSL, and Academy matches. Utilizing research, analytics, and performance measurement tools, they will work collaboratively with relevant departments to inform and optimize content strategies. Ensuring all activity aligns with brand guidelines, platform standards, and partner requirements is essential to maintaining consistency and integrity across all social media output.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of Liverpool FC’s squads, including players, managers, and coaching staff across men’s, women’s, and youth teams. A deep understanding of football and elite sport is essential, with the ability to translate insights into compelling content that supports KPIs and strategic objectives. Prior experience working within the sport or elite sport industry is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of delivering integrated campaigns within cross-functional media and marketing teams.
Expertise in key social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, and WhatsApp is required. The candidate should possess the ability to respond quickly to real-time developments, making confident and informed decisions under pressure. Strong editorial judgment, attention to detail, and content creation skills are vital for success in this role.
Essential technical skills include familiarity with social media management platforms, video and graphic content production using tools like Adobe Creative Suite, Tellyo, Grabyo, and Opta Match Graphics. The ability to analyze content performance and draw actionable insights to refine future strategies is also critical.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute engaging social media content strategies to increase engagement, reach, and community growth across all platforms.
- Create and optimise social-first content, including videos, graphics, and written posts, aligned with club branding and campaign objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams such as Content, Graphics, Commercial, and Marketing to develop integrated campaigns and branded content.
- Identify and leverage social media trends, cultural moments, and emerging platform opportunities to enhance the club’s digital presence.
- Provide live matchday coverage at Anfield and during away fixtures, ensuring timely and engaging updates for fans and followers.
- Utilize analytics and performance tools to monitor content effectiveness, drawing insights to inform future content planning and strategy.
- Maintain consistency with brand voice, platform standards, and partner requirements across all social media activities.
- Stay informed about industry best practices, competitor activity, and platform innovations to keep Liverpool FC at the forefront of social media trends.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to support campaign delivery and content development.
