Hours: 5 hours per week including weekends
Area: Ouseburn, Newcastle Upon Tyne
Rate: £13.50 per hour
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for two experienced personal assistants to support a gentleman called Benjamin who lives in Ouseburn in the centre of Newcastle. Benjamin has ADHD and is currently waiting on further assessments, he also has anxiety and suffers from episodes of depression which can incapacitate him. Experience of supporting individuals, on a one-to-one basis, with mental health and ADHD needs is required.
Responsibilities
- Support and encourage Benjamin to complete daily living tasks including domestic tasks and personal care tasks.
- Assist with household chores including laundry and bed changing.
- Monitor and encourage Benjamin to look after his teeth and personal hygiene.
- Support Benjamin to access the community and attend any scheduled appointments.
- Accompany Benjamin to make appointments and prompt him to attend them.
- Assist Benjamin with shopping once a week at the local supermarket and the post office.
- Assist with monitoring, recording and prompting Benjamin to take his regular medication if prescribed.
- Support Benjamin to explore local gyms and attend Pilates classes to strengthen his core muscles.
- Manage sensitively and respectfully when Benjamin becomes mute and disengaged during an episode of anxiety.
