Social Research Lead
Octavius Finance is partnering with a leading investment manager to appoint a Social Research Lead within its responsible investment platform.
This is an opportunity for an experienced ESG or responsible investment professional to take ownership of the firm's social research agenda, working closely with investment teams to identify the issues most relevant to long-term company performance and translate them into actionable investment insight.
The role has a genuine investment focus. Rather than sitting solely within a policy or corporate sustainability function, the successful individual will be expected to bring independent research and investment judgement to social themes, challenge existing thinking and help influence how these factors are assessed across the firm's portfolios.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will become a key point of expertise on social issues, developing research that can be used directly by portfolio managers and analysts.
The remit is broad and will encompass areas such as human capital, workforce practices, supply chains, diversity, health and safety, customer issues and other material social risks and opportunities. The role will also have an important engagement component, using research to support constructive dialogue with companies and assess progress over time.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
